The Industrial Modernization Center Organizes an Introductory Conference for the Big Industrial Week Exhibition that will open on October 8

The Industrial Modernization Center organized an introductory informative conference for the Big Industrial Week (BIW), which will be held from October 8 to 10, 2019. The conference was held in the presence of Eng. Ahmed Taha Bura'i, the First Assistant to Minister of Industry and Trade, Mr. Tariq Qashoua, Director of the Technical Office of the Minister of Industry for Strategic Policies, the Executive Director of the Industrial Modernization Center, Dr. Amr Taha, Dr. Shaimaa Bahaa-Eddin, Director of International Organizations Cooperation Department, representative of the Federation of Egyptian Industries, Ms. Svetlana Zubova, Chargé d' Affaires of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Egypt, Mr. Jan Noether, the Executive Director of the German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the representative of the Russian Company Formika, Mr. Anton Atrashkin.

At the beginning of the meeting, Eng. Ahmed Taha said that the exhibition was being arranged during the past one and half years, and it is scheduled to be held in October instead of December, ahead of the upcoming summit between the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Russian President Vladimir Putin, which is scheduled for next November.

For his part, Dr. Amr Taha, the Executive Director of the Industrial Modernization Center, said that the strategy of the Ministry of Industry and Trade for 2016-2020 is based on a clear vision that makes industrial development the engine for the economic growth in Egypt.

Dr. Amr Taha pointed out that the Big Industrial Week (BIW) exhibition, which is organized by Formika Group for the first time in Egypt and the Middle East, is a global event and one of the most important exhibitions of engineering industries in Russia.

Taha explained that the establishment of such exhibitions in the country stimulates and strengthens the spirit of competition between different local and foreign companies to provide the best offers and services to their customers through these exhibitions that represent a platform for trade and investment.

Mr. Tariq Qashoua emphasized the Ministry's direction to support economic relations with Russia by supporting businesses and providing all facilities to Russian companies. He also thanked the Industrial Modernization Center for organizing this event, and emphasized the importance of the participation of the African countries in this conference.

He explained that there is an Egyptian orientation to support the brotherly African countries for the implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi in this regard, expressing the hope that the Russian industrial zone in Egypt will be a reality as soon as possible.

Svetlana Zubova thanked the Federation of Egyptian Industries for providing the Russian companies with the necessary information about the factories, which the Russian side can cooperate with in Egypt before holding the exhibition. She stressed that Russia is very much interested in cooperation with Egypt, pointing out that the trade exchange between the two countries reached 7.7 billion dollars in 2018, with an increase of 14% over the record of 2017, and noted that the Russian investments in Egypt reached 6 billion dollars.

Mr. Jan Noether, Director of the German-Arab Chamber, said that German companies are very interested in participating in this important economic event held in Egypt. He also stressed that Egypt is the main gateway to the African markets.

The representative of the Federation of Egyptian Industries, Dr. Shaimaa Bahaa-Eddin, said that the relations between Egypt and Russia have gained new energy and impetus after the visit of President El Sisi to Moscow in 2015, which led to a great leap forward in the cooperation and investment between the two countries. She pointed out that there are 416 Russian companies operating in Egypt; most of them are working in the field of tourism. "We want that part of these companies would work in the field of industry, so as to increase the economic and industrial cooperation between the two countries," she added.

The representative of Formika Company, Anton Atrashkin, concluded the meeting by saying that Formika Company is working in 30 countries around the world, stressing the importance of the Big Industrial Week exhibition. He pointed that currently there are preparations for organizing the exhibiting companies from both the Russian and the Egyptian sides in order to increase the trade exchange and cooperation between the two countries.
